Citizens Advice Annual Parliamentary Reception27 May 2008 On Wednesday 21 May, Prudential supported the Citizens Advice annual reception in Parliament, hosted by Karen Buck MP, Chair of the Citizens Advice Parliamentary Group. Speakers included Nick Prettejohn, Chief Executive, Prudential UK and Europe; David Harker Chief Executive, Citizens Advice, and Gareth Thomas MP, Minister for Trade and Consumer Affairs, Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. The reception provided Citizens Advice with the opportunity to promote its service and highlight its achievements over the year and plans for the future. Almost 300 guests attended the reception, including Kitty Ussher MP, Economic Secretary to the UK Treasury. Citizens Advice also presented its Citizens Advice Parliamentarian of the Year Award, voted by the Citizens Advice Bureaux, to Dr Vince Cable MP, Shadow Chancellor for the Liberal Democrat party. Prudential has been Citizens Advice’s key partner on the Financial Skills for Life programme since 2002, delivering financial capability training to local communities, particularly hard to reach and low income groups. The reception also marked our six-year partnership and celebrated its success. The programme now supports financial education work by over 100 bureaux across England and Wales, and we continue to share its vision that by 2010, all of its bureaux should be able to offer a financial education service in their local area.
