Prudential takes part in Lights Out London23 Jun 2008 On 21 June a number of Prudential’s buildings in London took part in Lights out London, a campaign organised to raise awareness of global warming. Lights across the city were switched off for an hour on 21 June, the longest day of the year, to encourage London’s three million households to conserve energy. Organisers of the campaign highlighted that if all Londoners switch off their lights, the city would save 380 tonnes of CO2 in just one hour, enough to fill more than 2,000 double-decker buses or the Royal Albert Hall twice. In Hong Kong, an equivalent campaign took place called Dim It. Prudential Corporation Asia participated in the event and turned off the Prudential LED sign on top of nineteen storey Star House from 8:30pm to 9:30pm to help darken the night sky. Thanks to the concerted efforts of all the organisations involved, it was reported that this was the first time that stars could be seen from Hong Kong for many a year.
