Prudential Group Health & Safety Policy

Prudential plc is an international retail financial services group that aims to help people to secure and enhance their own and their dependants' financial well-being by providing savings, protection and other products and services suited to their needs.

It is Prudential plc policy to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all our employees and others affected by our business activities. This policy statement applies to all Prudential plc locations.

Managing health and safety is a key priority.

Our key health and safety objectives are:

  • To comply with, or exceed, current applicable health and safety legislation and other requirements to which the business is subject
  • To allocate formal duties and responsibilities for health and safety to our employees, and to encourage suppliers and business partners to ensure best practice in health and safety
  • To create and maintain a safe working environment by identifying hazards and assessing and minimising risk
  • To minimise work-related accidents, incidents and ill health, to investigate any that do occur and to work to reduce their number and severity
  • To provide adequate budget and resource for health and safety management
  • To communicate this Policy to all employees, with the intent that they are made aware of their individual health and safety obligations and those of the business
  • To provide employees with appropriate health and safety training, guidance and information
  • To protect shareholders' and other stakeholders' interests by ensuring that business decisions take into account the health, safety and welfare of our employees and those who may be affected by our undertakings
  • To work closely with appropriate external agencies, and within our industry, to ensure our continued adoption of appropriate best-practice in health and safety management
  • To monitor and strive for continual improvement in our health and safety performance

Overall responsibility for approving and reviewing our Health and Safety Policy lies with the Prudential plc Board. Each Business Unit is required to implement effective arrangements for managing health and safety in accordance with the Group Health and Safety Management Framework, and the responsibility for implementing this Policy rests with our line management and with each employee.

This Policy is the framework for setting and reviewing our health and safety objectives and targets. We commit to measuring, auditing and reporting our health and safety performance against this Policy.

This Policy will be reviewed periodically, or as required, to ensure that it remains relevant and appropriate.
