Energy consumption

Energy consumption (Megawatt-hours)

Total energy consumption is made up of gas, oil use, electricity and District Heat and Cooling.

Overall, energy consumption has increased within the operational estate. This is as a result of a growing presence across our operating regions and improved data capture processes.

During 2015, energy improvement audits were conducted at all our major UK sites. The recommendations have been integrated into plans for implementation in 2016 and into 2017. Energy audits have been planned at our largest energy consuming sites in all regions and energy and carbon reduction targets are being established.

Within the investment portfolio there has been an overall reduction in energy consumed. In properties held consistently for two years, energy consumption has reduced by three per cent as a result of energy reduction projects and engagement programmes.
